UNICEF USA Youth Engagement Internship 2024 with Generation Unlimited (GenU) Overview

UNICEF is offering a Youth Engagement Internship in partnership with Generation Unlimited (GenU), a global initiative focused on empowering young people aged 10–24. This internship offers an opportunity to work remotely from UNICEF’s New York duty station and engage in global youth development, advocacy, and entrepreneurship initiatives. The program targets changemakers passionate about youth empowerment, public policy, and international development.

About Generation Unlimited (GenU)

GenU aims to ensure that by 2030, every young person is either in school, learning, training, or employed. The initiative focuses on marginalized groups such as girls, youth with disabilities, and those affected by conflict or natural disasters. Through collaboration with governments, UN agencies, the private sector, and civil society, GenU is creating opportunities for young people worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

Interns will work with one of the following three hubs:

  1. Youth Engagement and Entrepreneurship Hub:
    • Assist in youth engagement strategies and programs.
    • Support the Youth Centrality Strategy and Youth Centrality Index.
    • Develop entrepreneurship and mentorship programs for youth.
  2. Country Support Hub:
    • Adapt the Public-Private Youth Partnership (PPYP) model to local contexts.
    • Engage in capacity-building for youth-led organizations.
    • Foster partnerships with local stakeholders.
  3. Global Solutions Hub:
    • Help manage a portfolio of youth-led projects.
    • Support project monitoring and evaluation.
    • Facilitate knowledge-sharing across global youth networks.

This internship is available to current or recent undergraduates at universities in the USA. The program is open to all subjects and focuses on youth engagement, program development, and advocacy.
