Sir Fitzroy Maclean was a Scottish soldier, author and politician. Awarded an Honorary degree of DLitt from the University in 1969, Sir Fitzroy Maclean had a long relationship with the University before he died in 1996. In 1997 a scholarship with respect to Sir Fitzroy’s interests and passions, and lecture series were created in his memory.
