Excellence PhD Studentships for all nationalities,University of East London (UEL) is offering up to 20 Excellence PhD Studentships starting in September 2015. studentship is for a period of three years with a maintenance allowance of £16,057 for the 2015-16 academic years, plus a training bursary of £2,000. To be eligible for PhD study, applicants are normally expected to have either a first or second class Bachelors degree with honours or a Masters degree from a UK University.  The last date of submission of application is 24 May 2015.

Study Subject: The University was particularly strong in the areas of allied health, art and design, cultural and media studies, psychology, and sociology. University also offers developing and encouraging excellence in STEM related areas.

Eligibility:

  1. The University’s standard minimum entry requirements for PhD study apply as below, though studentships will be awarded on the basis of the individual merit of applications as determined by the university.
  2. To be eligible for PhD study, applicants are normally expected to have either a first or second class Bachelors degree with honours or a Masters degree from a UK University. If you have other qualifications of a comparable standard (see the British Council Guide to International Qualifications in Education if they are from outside the UK for information), or have relevant research or work experience, you can still be considered for admission, but should provide the names of two academic referees who are familiar with your recent academic work. If English is not your first language, a minimum IELTS Academic English, or such qualifications as our University deems comparable, score of 7.0 overall, with a minimum of 6.5 in all components, is required at entry for MPhil/PhD. Such assessment of English language competence must normally have been undertaken no more than two years prior to application, though relevant and more recent study in a United Kingdom Higher Education Institution may be accepted as sufficient proof of ability.
  3. From 1 November 2007 the UK government will introduce the Academic Technology Approval Scheme. This will require international (non-UK or EU/EEA) students planning to undertake postgraduate research in science, engineering or technology disciplines, to obtain an ATAS Clearance Certificate in order to study in the UK.

Eligible Nationalities: Applicants of all nationalities are eligible to apply for this studentship.

 

What does it cover: The studentship is for a period of three years with a maintenance allowance of £16,057 for the 2015-16 academic years, plus a training bursary of £2,000. The candidate will be expected to register at the start of the Autumn term 2015. Applicants from outside the UK/EU are eligible to apply for the studentship on the understanding that they pay the difference between the full time cost of UK/EU and International fees.
