The University of Edinburgh will offer 10 scholarships to enable students to study abroad in China during the 2013-2014 academic sessions. The Eric Liddell China Saltire Undergraduate Scholarships were set up in 2012 in memory of Eric Liddell who won the men’s 400 metres at the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris. Eric Liddell loved China. He was born there in 1902 and spent his early years there. Following his university education at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland and his Olympic triumph in Paris, he returned to China to serve as a missionary.
