The Asia Pacific region is the engine of global electricity demand growth, contributing two thirds of new demand, and we estimate that the power generation sector in this region will attract over $1.5 trillion of investment in the next decade alone. Our team works to provide data and analysis on the intensifying “battle for the future” between solar, wind, fossil fuels and other technologies for market share.

Our Power & Renewables team will hire interns in our Singapore, Shanghai and Beijing offices for a 2-3 month period and work with our team of experienced power & renewables professionals who are responsible for delivering an expanding range of data and analysis to our clients. This position requires the ability to learn fast and apply industry and general knowledge to a broad range of data, analysis and research projects. The intern will gain experience using industry-leading data, tools and models, as well as gaining exposure to a range of clients and experts across the globe.

Main Responsibilities

Responsibilities will depend on the specific work requirements and a candidate’s capabilities, but are likely to include:

• Supporting and contributing towards the building and updating Wood Mackenzie Power & Renewables’ power data sets and dispatch models for Asia Pacific countries

• Contributing towards new research projects and thought leadership

• Extracting and analysing data from internal and external sources such as databases, websites and Wood Mackenzie products

• Supporting colleagues and experts on the power and renewables team

 

Qualification

 

• Must be working towards a Bachelors, Masters or Ph.D. program during summer of 2022 in a relevant topic such as science, engineering, finance, economics, or other degree subjects.

• Must be able to work from Shanghai, Beijing or Singapore offices.

• A genuine interest and enthusiasm for energy and power & renewables preferably shown by academic, work or volunteer experience

• Experience with data management, power modelling, financial analysis is beneficial
